| Welcome |
Cristina Popa started early 2003 as a PhD student in the (mainly experimentally oriented) Molecular Materials and Nanosystems group (MMN), at the Applied Physics Department. This group is a joint effort with the Applied Chemistry Department. The Ph.D. research project focuses on a fundamental study of the dissociation behaviour of individual NO molecules on single crystalline Rh(100) and Rh(111) and vicinal Rh surfaces with single-molecule vibrational spectroscopy. Also, Cristina is very much interested in transition states and the reaction path of some reactions like NO+NH3 molecules on Rhodium surface (studied with the VASP DFT code). The theory part of the research project, which is the work of Cristina, will be a joined project between prof.dr. P. Sautet (2nd promotor) (&École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France), our own prof. R.A. van Santen (promotor) and dr. C.F.J. Flipse (co-promotor;MMN, TU/e). To get some "hands-on" experience with DFT and VASP, Cristina will be a frequent visitor of her office in the theory group for some time to come. You can find her in Chemistry department, Helix building STW 4.27, tel. 3781. |
