Luís
Antônio Barbosa was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has obtained his
PhD title from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2000 supervised by Prof.
Rutger van
Santen in Theoretical Chemistry applied to catalysis. He worked as a
research scientist in the Institute des Recherches sur la Catalyse (CNRS) in
Lyon (France) under supervision of Prof. Philippe Sautet and in the
Strategic Technology Group (STG) of ICI at Wilton Centre (England) under
supervision of Dr. Stephen Rogers. The main subjects of his research were Chiral
and environmental catalysis on metal surfaces (IRC), Chiral hydrogenation by
homogeneous catalysts and protection of metalic surfaces by adsorption of
organic molecules (ICI). Currently he is a visiting scientist in the Theoretical
Group, collaborating with Prof. Rutger van Santen.
