Peter Vassilev was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1973. He studied in the National Natural-Sciencies High School in Sofia. In 1996 he has finished the Faculty of Chemistry of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" with a specialization Chemical Physics and Theoretical Chemistry. Since October 1997 he has been doing his PhD at with us at the TU Eindhoven with an external support by NWO (Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research).

At October 1st, 2002, Peter Vassilev started as a Post-Doc in the Theoretical Chemistry group of Prof. Baerends at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Peter succesfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on the 23rd of January, 2003 and thus received the accompanying title. His contact-address at the VU is:
