Rafael Salazar was born on 3 September 1971 in Lima (Peru).
Studied Physics at the National University of San Marcos, Lima.
He presented in 1995 his degree thesis entitled "Calculation and
Analysis of the anomalous spectrum in the Micromaser" under the
supervision of Prof. Francisco De Zela from the Catholic
University of Peru. Subsequently, he performed his Ph.D.
research in statistical Physics at the University of Balearic
Islands, in the Cross-Disciplinary Physics Department of the
Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies in Palma de
Mallorca (Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Raul Toral. Some
topics involved: Equilibrium Monte Carlo, histograms, Molecular
Dynamics and Hybrid Monte Carlo methods, Applications to
Optimization problems, aggregation process and generalized
statistics, like Tsallis non-extensive statistics. He obtain his Ph.D.
degree in 2000, the title of his thesis was "Monte Carlo Methods
in Non-extensive and Complex Systems". In November 2000 he
joined the theory group of Prof. Tonek Jansen, to study fast
diffusion in the Dynamic Monte Carlo simulations of catalytic
reactions on surfaces.
On the 11th of October 2002, Rafael returned with his family to Lima, Peru, and as of the 1st of November, 2002, he is not officially working here anymore. He now has a busy job as lecturer at the univeristy of Lima.
