Roelant Harmsen was born in Amsterdam in 1968. After moving to De Knipe
in Friesland, he attended highschool in Heerenveen. For his chemistry
degree he moved back to Amsterdam and attended the University of Amsterdam
(UvA) where he specialised in Analytical Chemistry. For his Ph.D. he came
to the Technical University of Eindhoven (TUE). His subject is the study
of transition metals in Zeolitic materials with Density Functional Theory.
