Extra exercise 7: Covalent and ionic contributions in molecular hydrogen

a) Show that the electronic ground state of H2 can be written as j(r1)j(r2)[a(s1)b(s2) - b(s1)a(s2)] with j = (1sA+1sB)/Ö(2+2S)

b) Write the ground state for H2 in terms of 1s A and 1sB instead of j. What are the ionic terms and what are the covalent terms? Which are more important? Any conclusions?
